Choosing the Correct Foil - When using transparent glass or bevels, choose your foil based on the color of your solder seams:

• Copper Backed foil if using Copper Patina on solder lines
• Silver Backed foil if leaving your solder lines silver
• Black-Backed foil if using black patina on solder lines
• Backing color is irrelevant when using with opalescent glass

Choosing the Correct Foil thickness

1mil - Thinnest of the copper foil tapes.  Recommended for the price and ease of folding. Higher potential to tear than a thicker tape. Most popular.

1.25 mil - This mid-price range and mid-thickness tape offers an increased strength factor. Second most popular. 

1.5 mil - Thickest available tape. Suitable for applications where the tape is splitting during application. Least popular thickness. Edco does not manufacture a 1.5 thickness.
