An additional shelf can be a useful accessory for any Skutt glass kiln. The logic behind the use of the extra shelf is mainly based on time and convenience. No delay in unloading and reloading and more.

Kiln shelves will not last forever as they are exposed to extensive and prolonged heat. An occasional visual inspection of the shelf will determine the condition. It is not necessary to keep a spare as Skutt shelves have an impressive life span.
