Novacan Black Patina for Zinc – Turn Silver colored Zinc to Black in color.

1) During Application Use safety glasses and gloves. Proper and complete preparation of metal surfaces is key to a superior result.

2) Remove all oxidization with wire brush or steel wool. Clean off all debris.

3) Wipe surface with white vinegar (this allows for a more uniform/dark color)

4) Wipe down with water and dry

5) To apply chemical use cloth or paper towel as applicator tool. Metal contaminates patinas. Form applicator into small thick pad approximately 2 x 2 inches.

6) Pour patina onto pad and wipe metal with long smooth strokes. Slowly wipe thin layer of chemical then let dry. Repeat thin layers of chemical letting dry between applications.

7) Continue to reapply until level of blackness is achieved.

8) Let chemical air dry hard for 24 hours.

9) Dries to a Matte finish (dull and flat without a shine).

10) Optional. Apply Clarity Finishing Compound to achieve a Glossy, shiny finish.

11) Once completely dry the chemical finish will remain semi-permanent. Minimal color fad due to time or sun exposure. To restore original metal color, remove patina coating with Super Fine “0000” grade steel wool.

12) Use safety glasses and gloves when applying chemicals.

13) Keep Stored Safely and Securely.
